Frank Loveday
The son of John & Eliza Loveday, Frank was born in July 1860 and
was involved with the cricket club for more than 50 years, firstly as a player then acting as
secretary from 1885 till 1937. His father was a local builder who rose
to considerable prominence in the village in the 1860's. John and his
family lived on Smeeton Lane and later at Willoughby House (No22), High
street. Frank Loveday was the third of five children and worked as a
rate collector, living on Roseberry Avenue and then moving to Market
Harborough where he worked as an Estate Agent. He was twice married, firstly to Mary Elizabeth Goode but
did not have any children. He died in February 1941.
He was an avid autograph collector and a personal friend of Sir Jack
Hobbs who sent a letter of congratulations to the dinner to celebrate
his 50 years as secretary in 1936.
