KIBWORTH CRICKET CLUB - 1859 Season

Leicestershire Mercury 21 May:  

Leicestershire Mercury 18 Jun:    A game of cricket was played at Kibworth on Tuesday [14th], between eleven of the club and twenty- two of the village. The twenty-two scored 38 and 49. The eleven in the first innings scored 71, and in the second innings they had seven wickets to spare.

Leicestershire Mercury 25 Jun:    KCC v Welford. A cricket match was played at the former place on the 16 inst., when Kibworth had an easy victory. Score KCC 90 & 19, W 22 & 85. Team: G Teear, C Marriott, Beasley, W Austin, Rev. H. Marriott, H Teear, Smith, Rev. Packe, J. Teear, J Smeeton, R. A. Matthew.

Leicester Journal & Midland Counties General Advertiser  15 Jul:     KCC v Lutterworth. A very good game of cricket was played between these sides on the former place on Friday last, when Kibworth won with wickets to go down. All played well and there was some very good fielding on both sides. Score:- Kibworth 81 and 39, Lutterworth 40 and 77. Team: K. Lea, G. Teear, R. H. Marriott, J. H. Douglass, W. Austin, H. Teear, R. Leicester Journal    15 July    Cricket.—The Kibworth cricketers are this year gaining laurels, for not only did the club beat tbeir opponents in a game on Friday last, bnt the young ones played a game on Monday, and were also victorious. Eleven boys from Harborough came to play eleven boys of Kibworth, when the latter won, with four wickets to spare.

Leicester Journal & Midland Counties General Advertiser  29 Jul:     The return match between the Juveniles of Harborough and Kibworth was played at the former place on Monday last, when the youths of Harborough proved victorious. [no scorecard or names]

Leicester Journal & Midland Counties General Advertiser  5 Aug:     KCC v Welford. A first rate match between the clubs on the 28th inst. at Welford, when the Kibworth players were victorious. It’s a singular fact that the Kibworth club have won every match they have played this year, and we believe previous to this year the Welford club have not been beaten at home for upwards of 12 years. Leicester Journal & Midland Counties General Advertiser  5 Aug:     Harborough v KCC. the Juveniles of these places having played 2 matches this season, and won one each, met to play a ”conquering” match at Harborough on Saturday last. The Kibworth boys went in first, and scored 100, of which Master Hildebrand contributed 54, but in the second innings they only scored 24. Harborough gentlemen scored 56 in their first innings, and in the second they won the  match with 6 wickets to go down.

Leicester Journal & Midland Counties General Advertiser  12 Aug:   KCC v Lutterworth. The return match between Kibworth Harcourt and Lutterworth was played upon the Lutterworth ground on Monday the 8th. Lutterworth won in one innings by 37 runs. An ample repast was served in a booth upon the ground by Mr. Samson of the Ram Inn. Scores:- Lutterworth 94, Kibworth 31 & 26. Team: K. Teear, G. Teear, Bromley, Austin, Smeeton, C. Marriott, H. Leicester Journal & Midland Counties General Advertiser 18 Sep:    A cricket match, played at Kibworth between Kibworth and Northampton clubs, There was only time for one innings and it was agreed that the game was a draw. [no details]
