KIBWORTH CRICKET CLUB - 1879 Season

  
Leicester Mercury          7 Feb      Cricketers' Soirée - The annual soirée and dance took place in the Village Hall on Monday, nearly 100 persons sat down to tea, after which entertainment was given, the following programme being well carried out:- Pianoforte duet. Miss Herbert and Master W. Herbert; song "Heart of Oak," Mr. Bryantreading The Quaker and the Robber." Mr. Cayzer; song "Her bright smile haunts me still," Miss Hammond; pianoforte duet, Misses Loveday and Fane; song, "Vicar of Bray," Mr. Bryans; pianoforte  duet, Misses Mason and Fane; song, “He kissed me when he left me,” Miss Hammond; comic song, "Mr. Hill." Dancing then commenced to the strains of an efficient band, 200 persons taking part. Mr.Loveday officiated as M. C. Refreshment were provided by Mr. Bolton of the C & H, who obtained a licence to sell until 3 o' clock, and whose arrangements were thoroughly satisfactory. The affair is considered the most successful ever to be held under the auspices of the Cricket Club, and it is hoped amply augment the funds. The committee were Messrs J. G. Garrett, E. C. Cayzer, A. Loveday, C. Mattock, B Gamble, T Branston, J Jesson, & G Grant. J Bolton being the Sec.

Northampton Mercury    8 March    Cricket Club.—The committee gave a ball at the village Hall, on Monday evening, for the benefit of the funds. There was a good attendance, and dancing was kept up until early morn to the strains of an excellent string band.

Leicester Mercury          16 May  The forthcoming sports. The auction for two refreshments booths at the Athletic Sports on Whit Monday, took place at the village hall on Monday evening. (Mr. Marriott being the auctioneer) and rendered the extraordinary sum of £19. Mr. Geo. Randall of the Railway Arms purchased both.

Northampton Mercury     13 Sept     KIBWORTH. Cricket.—There were no less than three teams went out cricketing from here on Saturday last. The club sent a team to Mowsley, when there was some excellent play on both sides, but the game was not played out. No. 2 club went to Great Glenn, and the boys of the church choir went Burton Overy.
