Leicester Chronicle 23 Apr Under the Kibworth Reports Column. The supporter of cricket, after a period of perambulation consequently on the lack of definite arrangements for a field in which to carry on the campaign during the forthcoming season have at length got a way out of the difficulty. Mr. J. Waterfield, whose occupation supplied the Locale of the old ground, has kindly consented to allow the club to use it this year, and a gentleman [no name given - although Dr Marriott is mentioned at the annual dinner] interested in the game has generously offered to pay half of the expenses, so that there is at present the prospect of a bright future for cricket at Kibworth.
Market Harborough Advertiser 17 May: On Tuesday evening a very enjoyable entertainment was given in the village hall on behalf of the cricket club, under the management of Dr Macauley. There was, however, not nearly so large an attendance as the merits of the performance deserved, and it is open to question whether the cricket club will be much the gainer thereby.

In the afternoon (on the Tuesday) a cricket match was played between 22 Kibworthian's on the one side and 11 on the other. After a very good game the eleven won by 3 runs, the scores being: The Eleven 56, the twenty-two 53..........................(On the Wednesday) a novel cricket match took place in the afternoon between six Kibworth gentleman and eleven ladies, and the game was watched with interest by a large number of spectators. The ladies used bats and were allowed as many privilages as possible, but the gentlemen had to bat with broomsticks, had to catch with one hand, and had to bowl with the left hand. Not withstanding these disadvantages the gentlemen suceeded in wining by two runs, after a very exciting finish. In the first innings Messers Loveday and Jones were the only two who reached double figures their scores being 15 and 18 respectively. Mrs Savige was remarkably successful with her bowling, all the wickets falling through her efforts. On the ladies side, Miss Mason was top scorer with 9 runs. In the second innings Mr F J Loveday got 20 of the 36 runs obtained by the gentlemen and for the ladies Miss Mason and Miss Beardsmore scored 14 each; the total of their side being 50. The scores were as follows: Gentlemen 50 & 36, ladies 30 and 54.
