Market Harborough Advertiser and Midland Mail - Tuesday 18 January 1898
Market Harborough Advertiser 22 Mar The Rev. A. P.
Dawson, President of the KCC, presided over a special meeting of the Village
Cricket Club
on Wednesday evening. Mr.
Pettifer, Architect, Leicester, had prepared
plans of the new structure,
which was submitted by the new Secretaries. The contract was estimated at about
£80., and towards that
amount, £50 had already been subscribed. A discussion ensued relative to the
further raising
of funds and it was immediately agreed to hold a dance in the Village Hall for
that purpose. For
the arrangement of that a special committee was appointed. On the motion of Mr. W.
G. Grewcock,
Sec. by Mr. G. Fane,
the following resolution was adopted unanimously: “That this meeting approve the steps taken by the Pavilion
Committee and that they empower the following to carry out the completion of the building. Rev. A. P. Dawson,
Messrs. E. V. Phillips, C. B. Marriott, J Price-Evans, F. J. LovedayT. H. Lewis.” Mr. Branston will probably carry
out the contract. The question
of the situation of the building was raised, and it was resolved on the motion
of Mr. H.Woodcock,
that the committee be instructed to place the Pavilion in the South-west corner
of the field,
somewhere near the corner gate.
