Match
report
These teams met at the Harborough ground on Saturday, when despite the
creditable effort of Kibworth, Harborough had a useful victory. The
great not out innings
of C J B Wood for 69, recalls the wonderful record of a not out innings
he played during his celebrated county cricket days. Mr Wood holds the
unbeaten record
against Yorkshire of playing first and second innings for
Leicestershire and the great Tykes being unable to dispose of him. It
is on record that Wood was first man in
on an occassion when Leicestershire were playing Yorkshire and carried
his bat through with a century to his credit and then first man in on
the second innings he
again performed the feat with almost a second century. The Yorkshire
men took their hats off to such an excellent weilder of the willow who
defied their bowling. He
compiled 69 on Saturday - going in first and returning bat in hand -
the score contained 1 six, 3 fours, 12 two and the rest were singles.
Hearth and Barber also played
a great game - the former put up the fine score of 32 and the latter
21. For the visitors Perkins and Grant made useful stand with 27
and 21 respectively to their credit.
Harborough's grand total was 155 against Kibworth's 98.
