Secretary's Report to the 1971 AGM

I promise no spanners, no red herrings and no bright ideas which abort - as last year. The season gone, alas will be remembered with sadness for the fall
of the magnificent pavilion which has graced our ground for so long. For over 75 years it has characterised Kibworth cricket - sound in limb, a little windy
but ever hospitable. We all regret its passing, as do so many non-cricketers of the village. We shall resurrect some of its memories when we erect the new
equipment shed. Long may it continue to protect our interests.
In happier vein we must remember the wonderful start to the season by the first eleven - once again a successful six-a-side competition (won by a Railway
team) and not least an exceptional full and successful Sunday season. Above all we are enjoying our new accommodation. Bar takings up by over £150
suggests that we are able to offer real social ammenities at last. There must be ways of using these wonderful facilities during the Winter - darts, skittles,
table tennis have all been suggested. We need enthusiastic organisers.
We are deeply indebted to the workers. I hope we can pay tribute to them as names are mentioned throughout the meeting. Perhaps I am allowed to pinpoint
two stalwarts who have worked very quietly and as yet unsung. Tom Iliffe and Walter Gregory took on the mammoth task of dis-erecting the pavilion - hardly
a labour of love but a job very well done and climaxed. They really did stick at it and are to be very highly commended and applauded.
