Secretary's Report to the
1975 AGM
The resent refurbishing of the pavilion had so improved
the general amenities and comfort of our members that there was little
left for
improvement in the lounge area. The impressive increase in bar sales
was in no small measure due to this great work by members. The
secretary produced old balance sheets dated 1897 and 1902 in which the
names Iliffe and Bolton were mentioned and the club's
financial turnover amounted to £40.1.8d in 1897.
We had our usual mixed fortunes in league and cup competitions but once
again the 6-a-side competition had been a great day for the
village and not least the clubs finances. Len Sturgess had again done a
great organising job.
The secretary noted the list of present and past Honorary Life Vice
Presidents indicating that each had received their honour for long and
devoted hard work on behalf of the club.
He thanked Bob Gilson for being instrumental
in providing us with 13 young trees with which further to enhance the
ground. He also noted
the plans for the encouragement of youth teams, the continued
enthusiastic and generous support from the Bridge club and the use of
indoor
nets during the winter. He looked forward with enthusiasm to the coming
1975 season.
Each captain had detailed and commented on the results of the 1974
