Match Report by Steve Thompson
Kibworth first team entertained Barrow at Fleckney road on Saturday, and I am sure most of the locals and players thought that this would be a good chance to get the teams league form back on track. Barrow batted first and it would have appeared to all watching, that things were going to plan when Barrow were teetering on 70 for 7. But once again some poor fielding and a couple of dropped catches, one of which was the Barrow overseas player Tim Wise who went on to make 119, let them off the hook and they posted a very competitive total of 235 all out. This despite being bowled out in the 43rd over. Pick of the Kibworth bowling was 17 year old Colin Griggs who outshone some illustrious company on his way to match figures of 6 for 41.
With 57 overs to chase down there target of 236, Kibworth got of to a steady enough start with John Hanger making 45 and Sunny Patel, 59. But as has happened far to frequently in recent weeks the loss of wickets and the inability of someone to go on and finish the game of for Kibworth, saw them finish 8 runs short of their victory target as they finished on 229 for eight.
