Match Report

The second team gained it's first win in League 1 on the second Saturday of the season and did so in emphatic style.

Langtons who were relegated from the Premier division last year and look to have lost a few players won the toss and elected to field.  After some impressive swing bowling from captain McAlpine the Kibworth batsmen took control to post a decent total of 250.  Along the way veteran Mike Gibson (aka McNeighbour) worked hard for his 35 and provided a useful foundation for two 16 year olds, Josh Cobb and Fabian Taylor to plunder the Langtons bowling.  Cobb made a superb 94 before running out of steam and holing out at mid off and Taylor was unbeaten of 51 at the close of Kibworths 3 hour innings.

After a marvellous tea that saw Kibworths opening bowler Dan (Bambi) Broughton scoff 2 cakes and 3 doughnuts, Kibworth set about the Langtons top order with Dan still looking hungry but this time for wickets.  He was in fiesty mood against his old club and was ably supported by some penetrating bowling by Tom (Betty) Driver.  The opening attack accounted for the first 7 batsmen with only limited resistance.

Time then to introduce the new youth star, Ram Ghuman who at 13 and in only his second League match already looks like an old master.  Having opened his account with 2 wickets in his first match the previous week he was soon bamboozling the Langtons batsmen.  His first ball drew the batsman Nick Jelley forward and spun it past the outside edge.  Second ball the Jelley came forward a touch more to try and smother the ball but again the ball spun past the edge and seeing the batsmans back foot slip over the line, keeper Thompson whipped off the bails.  Ram then took the final 2 wickets with more impressive bowling.  Watch this space!
