Match Report

So the curtain comes down the first competitive league season for the club's fourth string. Despite a five wicket haul from the again impressive Jacob Gibson the young guns of the club came unstuck against some decent bowling at a ground (if that is what you may call it) which was barely suitable for convict cricket let alone adequate for a reputable league.

In the final analysis the match spoke volumes for the season. Sometimes the cricket was inspired, at other times it was a little slap dash  but throughout the standards of effort, commitment to the cause and sportsmanship were impeccable.  As always the club can be proud of the young cricketers it has produced and the future is, without doubt, in very safe hands.

Sometimes the team have been outgunned, sometimes been undone by a lack of nous, but you cannot buy the experience that they have gained by playing against men week in and week out. In the not too distant future all the warm compliments received since the start of April will be given by captains on the losing side rather than the winning one.

Finally to the players. You have been a credit to yourselves all year and it has been an honour to be associated with each and every one of you.

Will Jennings
