Match Report

Recovery from 39 for 3, thanks to a most impressive 150-run 4th wicket stand between Greg Smith (78) and Josh Cobb (107no) and with cameos from Tim Mason (27 off 14 balls) and Simon Renshaw (41no off 25), Kibworth posted 307 for 6 off their overs. The rain affected 2nd innings ruined the game as a contest, despite the loss of just 2 overs, coming - due to the extremely slow 1st innigs over rate - at 8.10 with just 44 overs of Ashby's reply completed. Overseas player Ovenstone top scored with 66, and Russ Spiers and Nick Ferraby claimed 3 wickets apiece, but with the loss of overs, the 25-over scores determined the result, a winning draw for the hosts by just 2 runs. Farcically the points split, even before Ashby were docked a slow-bowling point, was Kibworth 15, Ashby Hastings 10. Without the loss of those overs, it would have been (even without further wickets falling) a more reflective 19:6!
