Match Report from Loughborough Echo
LOUGHBOROUGH Town 2nd XI made history on Sunday by winning the 2nd XI League Cup against a very experienced Kibworth team who also play a division above Loughborough.
Apart from the obligatory old man in the side, in this case Will Sutton who bowled very well, the team was extremely young led by captain Tom Edwards, the next oldest at 24 years.
Every one of the players has come up through the youth system at Loughborough and bodes well for the future of the club.
Loughborough had Kibworth on the rack straight away and they were soon 46 for 7 wickets.
There was some excellent bowling from Nil Patel (3 for 19) and Raoul Sharma (4 for 42), Wilson (1 for 14) and young spinner Shyam Patel backed up by some quality fielding especially from Wakeling and Lowe.
The Kibworth team rallied and ended up on 159 all out in the last over.
Edwards sent Lowe and a nervous 15-year-old Urvesh Patel into open and they gave Town a great start and weathered some hostile bowling although from one end it looked more like throwing than bowling.
Lowe was first to fall (13) and Patel was joined by Edwards who caressed the ball to score 30.
When he fell Patel was joined by 17-year-old Pravir Sharma. Patel went next for an exciting 27 and Raoul Sharma came to the crease.
In 38th over Raoul hit the winning runs to finish 24 not out and Pravir on 49 not out
