Greg Grabs Glory for the KCC!! (and doesnt he let everyone know about
it)
KCC entertained Weekley & Warkton in their 3rd league game of the
season, the second at fleckney rd.
eyeing up an interesting wicket and
cumulonimbus (yes i do have a geography degre) cloud formations Pushing decided
to unleash his talented bowling attack once more!
Chav found Pace and
bounce and following an excellent slip take by the golden boy had his first
league wicket of the season. At the other end Greg Gibson bowled some oiley
rapier like deliveries getting plenty of penetration on a moist surface. His
ultimate four wickets proved that he was still focused on the game despite the
impending investigation.
Sir ben was back in the wickets, sadly his first
came of a no ball and sent us all back to our marks with glum faces. When he
found the outside edge again the legend shelled a simple one due to rain
splashes on his bins and disapointment began to set in.
At 80 for 8 WWCC
looked dead and buried but thanks to some selective big hitting from the nicest
bloke who ever played cricket and some terrible pieces of fielding by KCC in the
later stages they coughed their way to 163. It was the first real wound
sustained by a talented young bowling attack and it was left to Young Eater
Elliot to put a plaster on the grazes claiming the last wicket of the day with
his first ball. 163, it was one of those scores remarked pushing and with some
KCC sporting longer faces than the grand national winner little boy doubt just
hopped aboard the KCC bandwagon for the briefest of visits!
If doubt was
on board at tea he was sent packing within the first three overs of the KCC run
chase. On a wicket that many thought would do a bit WWCC failed to make use of
the facilities and gave Fajjerr and the golden boy the perfect start with some
indifferent lines and lengths. Fajjerr rocketed to 50 with a selection of leg
side smashes and GG joined in the party with a more delicate blend of text book
cricket. As Fajjerr clubbed to 56 he took on one too many and lost his middle
peg allowing Beevers to try to steal the high scorers spot from him! That he
promptly did and as GG went past 50 to a sublime red inker BB overt took DG and
climbed 17 runs ahead in the big race.
Long faces banished, KCC retired
into the club house for an early court!
DOTD T shirt presented, guilty
verdict passed, national anthem sang, barmaid found single and Fajjerr home to
filth (and yes Greg I did ask first)
How did the rest of you young lovers
fair?
I love all of my sons
