Match Report

This was boro first visit this year to their adoptive home ground of Sharnbrook. Since our last visit the new £1/4m new changing rooms had been built and what a pleasure not having to scramble over the excessively large bags used today (showers were great to. We were in these early!).

Could skipper Peter maintain his 100% record (1 out of 1), alas no Kibworth skipper calling correctly and electing to put boro into bat.

Boro got off to a poor start and it just kept going, only Jo York and Barrie Curtis looked at home (Jo was unfortunate to be involved in a mix up that led to him being run out). Barrie then just looked on from the other end as each boro batsmen came and went all to quickly.

Greg Gibson (13-4-27-5) and Tom Bailey (12.3-4-28-2) being the pick of the Kibworth bowlers. Gibson simply bowled straight and let the pitch and the boro's batsman do the rest. Tom Bailey left arm spin would have been at home at a much higher level than Div 7! an excellent spell.

Boro needed to create pressure early if they were to get anything out of the game. Unfortunately David Greenhalgh and Greg Gibson were quickly off the mark with the help of some wayward bowling. First change Robert Thrippleton gave a glimmer of hope to boro dismissing Gibson second ball of his spell. However Dan Pedley and David Greenhalgh soon reached the target in 20 overs.

From my personal view it was a pleasure to see such a closely knit team as Kibworth. They warmed up properly as a team, even walking around the ground together as a team - I haven't seen this in any of the divisions - a great unit playing together. If this model was adopted by more teams you would see a big improvement in the standard of play across the divisions - look out division 7, Kibworth have arrived and based upon this performance will not be staying long
