Match report

Shepshed collapse...at Jacko's dress sense

Following the heroics performed at Ibstock, FK was hopeful of another great team effort and a win to keep pace with the top 2. Changes in the team saw parky and jacko return to the 2's their 2nd appearance for fk's boys in what would be a very strong side for 5th placed shepshed town.

Usefully fk won the toss and invited the oppo to bat, which their skipper was happy with as he wanted a bat anyway. This did worry fk as most teams want to field first and the shepshed boys must have fancied a bat.

With jaffa having tweaked a buttock muscle during the week, not working I assume as he spends as much time on the golf course as OTP does watching loose women and home & away during the day, it was parky who took the new ball with mikey. The deck was pretty lively and with a good chance of some seam movement. The wasp took his place next to fk and it was a flying start with a wicket with ball 1 of the game and we were off. Parky and mikey bowled in great areas, with parky's line and length absolutely impeccable and before the 8th over it was 12 for 4 and it could have been an earlky start on the carlings.

The shepshed skipper knuckled down with number 6 Palmer and both looked quality batsmen, although parky and mikey beat the bat on several occasions. They put away the bad ball very well and built a solid partnership taking them to 80 for 4 in 18 overs.

In the 4 wickets would see 2 great catches in the slips. Wasp held a thunderbolt off parky only to shell a simpler chance later and “Julian Clary” Jackson an amazing take infront of second slip inches off the deck.

After Mikey and parky had finished their spells it was the returning wasp and hopes of a miserly spell as per his ibstock antics. Without the aid of his brown nails, he was as effective as a one legged man in an arse kicking contest and his solitary over was enough for the day and it was time for the large noggined blonde spin king of kibworth to deliver another weeks worth of magic. On a rhyming theme with the word magic, at the other end it could have been described as tragic. No not the bowlers ability, but the sight of a grown man and member of her majesty's constabulalry, a man trained to defend the good people of Leicestershire against the vile criminal fraternity, sporting an earing!

Now on the young and cool, and film/pop stars of today, an earing can be worn with style and elegance, but on a man who wears a white trilby, flowered shorts and carries his kit in a grannies shopping bag it just doesn't work. Like an extra from “Bruno”, jacko the pink policeman would bowl his first ever over with a girls earing

It was the globe who split up the deadly duo, snaring the skipper at midwicket, leaving the dangerous palmer at the crease to marshall the tail. He would eventually fall as FK juggled the bowling at pavilion end with a few experiments to change the game. Vice skip stick cricket had 6 (no not overs, just balls) as fk resorted to pace to try and blast through the tail. Parky returned and was unlucky not to finish the job and after taking 4 wickets, bomber was denied the chance of another michelle and was replaced by Mikey.

It was a short rest as fk tried the spherical heed from the other end but the final wicket would be taken by the chav as he clipped the top of off with beauty having been chirped inspirationally the previous ball by skipper pounds that june would be more effective with the ball.

So all out for 147 and 8 overs to be added to the batting innings. Surely the batting collapses of previous week were now out of the system?

At tea a temporary tea lady combination was in operation. 3rd team skipper Pedley admitted that he had been sleeping with his tea lady for some time now and the tea lady in question admitted that it would be the last time. Hopefully for peds this meant the last time she would do teas not the last time she would sleep with him!

The left and right handed combo of driver and jacko was selected to open. After last weeks hideous get out shot, jaff was in the mood to make amends and both batted very well against a very impressive opening attack. Overseas paceman Dipha was sharp and exploited the bounce and pace in the pitch and hustled a few past the earing. Having built a very solid start and seen off the dangermen, jaff relaxed and guided one to point, dperating for a well played 35. Following last weeks vomiting spell, luke was back in the side and looking to recapture his early season form. What he did capture was a reasonably swift return to the pavilion to be replaced by billy bale. A grafting knock by bale supported by jacko and we inched closer to the target. The game still had life left in it, as both found runs hard to come by. Some bowling changes would see bale and jacko back on the balcony and paring of parky and OTP. One has classical elegance a straight bat and a wide array of shots, and the other one is OTP. Parky was very watchful and was in danger of being overtaken by the pony who played a beautiful off drive for 4. (yes it's not a mistake or a spell check error, I did say off and drive and OTP in the same sentence!)

Parky started to find his timing and the boys went about the chase in sensible order. The returning openers added more pace but with the boys well set, the final runs were secured in the 37th over and 24 points.

It was an excellent all round performance, superb fielding and bowling and gritty applied batting. Top barwork from Jaff and FK until 11pm and some silly Big Brother based face drawing antics drew to a close another Saturday and the prospect of a quarter final the following day vs lutterworth. (report to follow)

The side keeps getting stronger and competition increases with the influx of returning players. Good cricket, good banter and jackos earing is just silly!
