Match Report

A well fought 5 wicket victory over possible title contenders Kibworth saw town take 23pt. This despite and unbeaten 102 from County batsman Joss Cobb.

Kibworth batted 1st and Mat Craven was out 2nd ball LBW to Sam Cliff. Tom Burton and Dipak Patel had put on 19 when Patel was bowled also by Cliff in the 7th over. Two further wickets, a 3rd for Cliff and 1 for Ollie Freckingham saw Kibworth reduced to 30 for 4 after 10 overs. A direct hit on the stumps from Rhoul Sharma saw Andy Smith run out and the visitors in deep trouble at 37 for 5 after 14 overs. A 6th wicket stand of 67 between man of the match Joss Cobb and Simon Renshaw prevented a total collapse. The partnership finally broken when County player James (Titch) Taylor had Renshaw LBW in his 1st over, the 29th of the innings. Cobb continued to frustrate the bowlers, He just managed to reach his 100 in the last over to finish on. Out of a final total of 202-8. Cliff the best of the bowlers taking 3 for 31 from 10 overs.

Town also lost an early wicket James Bull out for 12 in the 3rd over with the score on 16. A 50 partnership between Kyle Saddington and Anish Patel saw town well on the way to victory. Saddington fell in the 13th over with the score on 66. Patel fell just 9 runs later having made a solid 33. Mitch Buck came into join James Taylor, and in a partnership of 51 Buck made a quick fire 30 before he was well caught & bowled by Darren Shaw. Taylor was looking solid and reached his 50 in the 41st over. He went onto make an unbeaten 65 with the winning run coming in the 48th over. Town winning by 5wkts.
