Clint Baker was the hero for Ibstock Town in an extraordinary Everards League Division One win over Kibworth Seconds. The visiting skipper took a hat-trick with the last three deliveries of the match to clinch a five-run success.
Ibstock totalled 193-9 from their 45 overs with Adam Hoult hitting 68 and Steve Sperry 30. Kibworth fell behind the clock in their run chase with Paul Clark taking 4-81 and Sperry bowling a tight spell.
But the home side had wickets in hand and that set up an exciting finish.
Kibworth needed nine runs with three wickets left when off-spinner Baker began the final over. The batsmen scored two runs from the first three deliveries before Russell Spiers went down the wicket to the fourth ball, missed and was stumped by Mark Harrison.
With six still needed from two balls, home skipper Tom Bailey went to the crease looking for victory. He, too, went down the wicket and was stumped. Last man Jai Singh was bowled between bat and pad by the final delivery.
