Sunday saw the end to this seasons involvement in the national knock out losing by just 3 runs in an exciting match. Once again Kibworth were put into bat and raced to 40-0 after 5 overs. Wickets in the next 2 overs slowed the flow of runs for a while. 2 further wickets saw Kibworth on 84-4 after 20 overs. Andy Smith and Ross Clarke knuckled down and put on 69 for the 5 wicket and from there 45 overs made 191-8. With 2 wickets each for Ollie Freckingham, Neal Gamble, and Rhaul Sharma. The top score for Kibworth was extras which totalled 43, 32 of them wides which would subsequently be the downfall of L'boro
Town seemed to be in control with the run rate initially never getting more then 5 an over. Anish Patel had made 58 when he was given lbw to a ball that appeared to come of his gloves. Chad Yates on 41 was well caught & bowled by Russell Spires and town got bogged down and in the latter overs the run rate crept up and coming into the last 3 overs 24 were need. With managed 10 runs in the 43 over but also lost there 5 wicket. With only 4 runs in the next over meant that they needed 10 of the last over. A 6 was needed from the last ball with Mitch Buck facing. Swinging the bat he skied one towards midwicket for the fielder to take a clean catch but the umpire had called a no ball. Buck coming back for a 2 run was run out for 47 leaving now 4 wanted of the last ball, Unfortunately a good ball into the block hole meant no runs were scored and Kibworth celebrated a narrow 3 run win.
