Match Report

Town took a hugh step in regaining the premier league following a 31 run victory away to Kibworth.

Losing the toss and being put into bat town struggled to reach 211 all out with just 3 balls of there innings left. Top scorers for town being Mitch Buck and Dips Patel both making 40 and sharing in a stand of 60 for the 4th wicket. Russell Spiers the best of the bowlers taking 4 for 37 from his 10 overs.

With such a modest total to defend town had to bowl tight and take early wickets to stand any chance of victory. Tom Wells got that early breakthrough in the 2nd over. Ollie Freckingham took the 2nd wicket in the 5th over and following an early bowling change Paul Fisher made it 3 in the 10th over to leave Kibworth 42-3. Kibworth tried to knuckled down and runs dried up with only 32 runs coming in the next 18 overs for the loss of 2 further wickets. At 28 overs they were 74-5 and in trouble. A 6th wicket stand between Adir Ali and skipper Andy Smith took the match back towards the home side. They had put on 69 in 12 overs and looking in no trouble at all when with the score on 143 Ali mistimed a hooked towards the midwicket boundary to be caught by Freckingham. Town took full advantage of this breakthrough and managed to mop up the remaining wickets for the addition of 37 runs to see Kibworth all out for 180 with 2 overs to spare. Town taking maximum 24pts and Kibworth 7pts. Chad Yates taking 3 for 17 from 4 overs and Tom Wells also taking 3 for 35 from 9 overs.
