Bretton Gate was no place to be for those of a nervous dispostion on Sunday (14 August) as Peterborough Town booked their place in the last eight of the Cockspur National Club Twenty/20 Cup with a last over win victory Kibworth.
In fact, it's just as well the hospital is so close to the ground as by the time this match reached it's dramatic conclusion, blood pressure levels among the home fans were sky high.
Thankfully amid the soaring tension, Lewis Bruce somehow kept his head to win the match in breathtaking fashion with a mighty six off the final ball.
It was a spectacular end to a thoroughly engrossing game of cricket, but if Town skipper Ajaz Akhtar has a few more grey hairs this morning, it's easy to see why.
And having won the toss, Akhtar did himself proud too with a couple of important early wickets, including that of Matthew Craven, who had scored 104 in Kibworth's win against Rolls Royce in the other semi-final.
But once again it was man-of-the-match McMahon who really caught the eye while fellow spinner, 16 year-old Rob Sayer, bagged two important wickets as Kibworth were restricted to 118 runs off their 20 overs.
That was 20 runs less than Town's semi-final opponents Wollaton had managed and with the depth of batting at Akhtar's disposal, a comfortable victory looked on the cards.
But after a brisk start, Asim Butt's dismissal sparked a mini-collapse and following the loss of David Clarke and Alan Burton, 118 suddenly looked a daunting total with the home side wobbling on 52-3 after 11 overs.
Following the loss of Ashley Rodgers, however, Bruce strolled out to join McMahon at the crease and the pair formed what proved to be the defining partnership of the match.
McMahon displayed brawn and brain in equal measure as he made his way to an unbeaten 41 while Bruce also played a canny innings - even if he did make everyone wait before firing his side home in heart-stopping style.
