The unbeaten 4th team put their record on the line against Loughborough
greenfields
A much changed line up saw a senior debut for latest junior
prodigy Jay Chauhan, and seasonal debut and final kcc game for ben herring.
Coupled with the selection of a travel sick Dave pounds we had a strangely
strong looking batting line up.
Having deliberately lost the toss and been
asked to bat Japan bound herring and the skipper despatched the bowling to all
parts ( ok on my part it was mainly backward of square!)...... Compiling an
opening partnership of 130 in 12 overs before herring tried to launch one
samurai blow too many, lost his stumps and departed for a thrilling 69.......the
skipper was joined by big Dave who immediately proceeded to elevate the
opposition bowlers to near test status by playing and missing everything chucked
at him..... The skip carried on imperiously before being triggered by the
chairman who looked up from his blackberry upon hearing a shout and the skipper
was gone for 81..... Poundsy was joined by Henry simpson and the real life
little and large made swift progress with poi day finally finding his touch and
Henry continuing the form which has cemented the no 4 slot this season.... Poi
day finally departed given out rib before wicket by herring San for 49 (
Definite jug avoidance!)..... This bought last weeks star batsman Miami Ellwood
to the wicket although he was soon back at the scorebook without troubling his
own pencil
With the skipper considering a declaration Jay Chauhan joined
Henry and the 2 juniors played beautifully with Jay ending 17 no and Henry a
career best 45 no...... The skipper tried to give Henry time to get a maiden 50
but his slow play matched that of his dad, and with one eye on the weather skip
declared on 304-4 from 39 overs
A much changed bowling attack saw elliot
lodge and Chris Carson opening and they didn't disappoint by despatching the top
4 with elliot taking 3-23 before he had to leave to continue his quest to
support the finances of the swan by paying them for working
With rain in the
air the skipper turned to the spin twins of blodge and Miami and the latter
despatched what was left of the batting by finishing with 5 for 8 off his 5
overs
So another comprehensive victory for the 4's with contributions from
all over the pitch.....no team has scored 100 against us and so confidence is
high
Great debut for Jay Chauhan with bat and gloves (especially against
pace)..... With his chirping behind the stumps reminiscent of a young Aadil
.....chirp of the day " he's fishing without a licence"......pressure now on at
selection if we ever get a week when everyone in the club available
So 3 out
of 3 for the season and a fantastic way to bid sayonara to the departing
herrings and their expanding family......they go with the good wishes of all at
the club knowing that they will always have a home at kcc
