Towns defence of the premier league finally got under way but not as they would have hoped following a narrow losing draw at home to Kibworth. Town managed to restrict the visitors to a modest 163-9 from there 50 overs but the real story to this innings was the 32 wides bowled which actualy cost 42 runs ,added to the no balls, Byes & Legbyes the extras total was an unacceptable 55. Plus 3 dropped catches.
Kibwoth bowled a tight line and were sharp in the field making scoring difficult but with 10 overs to go town were in a strong postion needing 50 with 6 wickets in hand. There was always going to be a twist in the tail to this match and 3 quick wickets saw town 150-7 after 48 overs. With 7 runs from the 49th over town were still slight favourites, a wicket from the 1st ball of the last over ended any hope of victory and town just blocked out the last 5 balls to end on 157-9 taking 9 pts to Kibworth 12pts
