Match Report

Winning the toss skipper Dips Patel put Kibworth in on a very green wicket. Town got the early breakthrough with Matt Craven bowled by Olllie Freckingham for 11 in the 5th over with the score on 19, Kibworth looked to have got over the early loss when Freckingham produced the ball of the innings to send the stumps flying and Ghuman on his way with the score on 36. Town kept the pressure on the batsman with 3 further wickets for the addition of 35 runs saw Kibworth in a spot of trouble at 71-5 from 20 overs. When the 6th wkt fell at 93 it looked a strong possibility that Kibworth would struggle to bat their overs out. However a 7th wkt stand of 43 between Josh Peel and Dan Broughton, followed by an 8th Wkt stand of 23 between Broughton and Russel Spiers gave the score a more competitive edge. Kibworth finally all out from the last ball of the innings for 164. Freckingham the best of bowlers taking 3 for 27 from his 8 overs.

Town reply initially mirrored that of Kibworth with the 5 over score identical at 25-1 but from there on it was all downhill, with Sunnie Patel the only batsman to offer any resistance making 32 before being caught just behind square leg. Town went from 88 -5 to 114 all out in a space of 9.1 overs. Man of the match Russell Spiers taking 3 for only 2 runs in 5.3 overs. An unusual stat for this was that extras top scored in both innings with L'boro conceding 34 extras and Kibworth 38.
