Kibworth are through to a second cup final after booking a place in the Everards Challenge Cup decider with an eight-wicket victory at Sileby Town on Sunday. They will now face Market Harborough who host the final this Sunday (1pm) before taking on Loughborough Town in the County Cup final at Grace Road a week later.
Colin Ackermann turned in his second match-winning performance after staring in the quarter-final victory against Stoughton & Thurnby. After Dave Torr’s 32 helped the home side, who were put in, to make a steady start Colin took wickets in his first and second overs and went on to claim 4-34. With Russell ‘the Legend’ Spiers bowling tightly at the other end, Sileby’s middle order were shackled and they were eventually restricted to 152-9 off 40 overs.
A second-wicket stand of 71 between Colin and skipper Craves (50) put the visiors well on course before Matt was caught at mid-wicket off Liam Kinch’s off-spin. Ackermann however continued to play fluently and sealed victory with a six and was unbeaten on 67 as Kibworth galloped home with five overs to spare.
