Folls' boys score another win

With the lovely Laughton and Mowsley ground sadly only fit for a remake of 'The Hunt For Red October' this annual fixture was moved to the altogether more modern and functional Fleckney Road. In another reversal of the norm Kibworth sauntered to a comfortable win in a hugely enjoyable, if chilly, friendly.

Batting first Kibworth looked to be heading towards a healthy total. Ian Blunt showed that names can be indeed be misleading with some crunching off side swipes from his blade after the unfortunate Sam Pole had fallen to a sharp chance in the gully. Unfortunately in a theme that would run through the entire first half of the game batters got in and then got out. Once again then with plenty of overs to go numbers 7 and 8 were at the crease trying to eat up time and nudge the score into the healthier end of three figures.

Now, when it comes to flamboyant batting perhaps the club sec and The Bard aren't exactly where you would first look although it took rare skill for those two club stalwarts to consistently find the fielders. Undeterred Blebs began swatting with unlikely aggression before mistaking the 'Moobmeister' wordsmith for someone who could actually undertake a quick single and was run out by the length of the pitch. Enter Kean Folley to show how shot making should be done and Kibworth finished on 152 for 8.

Kibworth in the field were pretty damn good. Joel Juvvanpodi posed just as many problems for the batters with his left arm bowling as his surname does for any scorers in the county by conceding only 10 from his allotted 8 overs. Lee Butler exchanged his normal tweakers for some seam up fireworks, Sam Pounds bowled a bit of both varieties without any deserved success and Scott Hamilton wobbled a few down in promising fashion. The real star of the show though was Ollie Lodge behind the stumps who showed considerable bravery and no little skill to stand up to all bowling in convincing style and make a really tidy job of it.

The final analysis showed that Kibworth had won by 44 runs which was a satisfactory result on a day when the scores were low but the laughs and entertainment were high.
